For reliving your video game dreams: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Awesome film that ties in really well with the game. They sort of messed up on Sephiroth though…he’s not as sexy looking as he was in the game or on KH. He looks sort of dorkish like. Anyway, great film for those FF lovers.
If you want a suggestion for anything else foriegn or sci-fi let me know! I’ll think of something to fit ya!
Oh I agreee! We just watched Final Fantasy VII and it was great! And House of Flying Daggers was much better than Hero.
One of my all time favorite movies is Raise the Red Lantern. I had to hunt everywhere for it as it seemed to have been banned in China.
I enjoy foreign movies, subtitled of course. The beauty in Raise the Red Lantern is just breathtaking.
Movies…too many to name.
If you’d like a good horror/gore film and like Japanese spontaneousness thrown in, rent Suicide Club. It just happens to be the gorest movie to come out of Japan. I won’t give details..but I’m telling you, don’t eat and watch it at the same time. Nearly threw up at some points. Good film though, and quite creepy how children can influence you…to do ANYTHING.
Other then that…Sleepy Hollow is a really good Depp film. *squee*….sorry I’m all fangirly over Johnny Depp…I’ve got a whole POTC collection of just him…[:I]

Saturday night we watched "8 Below" about a sled dog team left in Antartica with winter closing in. They survived (6 of the 8) on their own for 175 days.
Also, the 1966 movie "Grand Prix" with James Garner came out on DVD for the first time. So I bought it.
acornlover,
three came home is one powerful movie. we should start a movie club:)
Diner-Lover- Thanks for the ideas, I have written them down
Xannie- have you ever seen" And Three Came Home" I watched that on VHS this week- Claudette Corbett (sp?) really good, I have already seen many on your list, you have my kind of taste
Unfortunatly I had to come home unexpectadly for a wake, but will return this weekend in my quest to catch up on some DVD/videos
Thanks you guys!
I got the ‘Venture Bros.’ season 1 set soon as it came out. Picture Jonny Quest 40 years later, as a middle-aged pill-popper resentfully living in his esteemed late father’s shadow. Patrick Warburton stands out as Brock, the family’s mullet-headed superviolent bodyguard. Smart, raunchy, and often hilarious.
Why We Fight – it’s a new documentary

Oh yeah! The commercial where Jay is doing a parody of the transvestite from Silence of the Lambs dancing had me rolling lol. I can’t wait. I like all of Kevin Smiths work….well except Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back…dopey.
zataar, did you ever get stung by a dead bee?[;)]
From the library last week we checked out Grand Hotel, Key Largo ( a GREAT summertime movie) and To Have and Have Not. And an old Spencer Tracy movie called Fury, by Fritz Lang, who directed the original Metropolis. That one was quite good. We love old movies.
zataar, you’re right! how could i forget that one
bad enough i forgot grand hotel.
OK, not available on DVD, but from our library on VHS, The Mask of Dimitrios, with Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet and Zachary Scott. A great mystery from 1944. Would go well with Xannie’s choices, all of which I love.
