My brother and I stopped over in Amarillo for the night last year when I helped him move out to Ruidoso, NM, and we chanced upon this place just west of downtown called Desperado’s, which was the sort of texas barbecue place you either consider old-fashioned or cliched–though for this barbecue-deprived Chicagoan, I was in hog heaven. It was a Tuesday and all-you-can-eat rib night, which while sounding like Old Country Buffet, was really just awesome: these were huge, meaty ribs, bright pink with the fat still left in them–just amazing eats. Sides were great, cobbler was fresh and beer was cold…most amazing part? It was seven bucks for the ribs.
Hope this helps.
Hello to all!!!….I’m new to this forum so this will be my first post[:)]
I’m driving from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Denton,Texas just north of Dallas. I’ll be traveling I-40 east to Amarillo then 287 to Denton.
I’m interested in some good food choices along this route…maybe some BBQ, chicken fried steak, anything really i’m not hard to please.
Also info on restaurants maybe around the Denton area or north Dallas.
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 71bronc
