Many thanks. My girlfriend does not like mexican food but, I love it! I’ll try it while she’s working.
Did’nt know you had a girlfriend… way to go….
I used to like Woody’s BBQ in Goleta for beef ribs, (real fun rustic decor; they call your # when it’s ready), but I did’nt like it as much last time I was there. May be still worth a shot, though
You will get to meet her on the Thursday you are in Dallas. She is flying in for the wedding I’m attending that weekend. That’s why I had to cancel the Austin BBQ tour.

Your 100% right! I stand corrected. [8]

Ok, Paul. The name of the restaurant at the harbor is "Breakwater Restaurant". The great Mexican restaurant on Milpas St. that all raved about is, "Altamirano’s".http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/review_read.asp?pk_restaurant=608

Actually, I’ll respectfully disagree on the Mexican place. It’s La Super Rica that gets the raves. I first found out about it back in the 70’s I believe when the Stern’s wrote an article in Gourmet Magazine about it. Then Julia Child made it known that in her opinion, they had the best Mexican food in the US. They’ve been highly rated for years in Zagat, etc. Not fancy but the food is just incredible. No burritos or tacos though—-this is "Mexico City" style food. You can watch the tortillas being made in the window as you come up to place your order.

I had breakfast at the restaurant at the main marina where most of the boats are docked. It is right on the water and you cannot miss it as it is the only restaurant on the docks. The breakfast was very good but I cannot say anything else. The view was super and the food for breakfast was very good.

Knoxville, TNThanks Paul. My girlfriend took me there for breakfast on my first morning in SB. As it turns out, it’s her favorite b’fast place.
TwinWillow: Do you happened to recall the name of the restaurant. It has been a few years since I was there. We were racing in Pomona and we always do a Saturday morning early trip. We drove up to Santa Barbara to enjoy the view of the islands off shore and just happened upon the restaurant.
The breakfast was great but we forgot the name of the place.

Thanks for the tips, Ed.
Sorry, twinwillow——–this post got lost in somehow when I finally checked my computer after my honeymoon—-in the Santa Barbara area. Here’s a few suggestions for your March trip.
Cajun Kitchen—-a few locations in Santa Barbara and suburbs. They’ve been there at least since the ’70’s and are one of my favorites. Great breakfasts—–try the corned beef hash or the etouffee omlet. And make sure to get the cornbread with it! For lunch, they make a seafood gumbo that is amazing too as well as blackened redfish and catfish.

You wouldn’t believe the lines out the door of this place. It’s very close to my gf’s house.
I didn’t have time to try it but, I will next time I’m there in March.

Many thanks, "Budman2000". My girlfriend, who lives in Santa Barbara probably knows of some these places. Thanks again and, welcome aboard. This is probably the very best forum on the www. It’s certainly my favorite.
