I have aSandwich prep cooler problem, the problem is it doesn’t cool lower than about 50.I bought it at an auction.I hear the compressor running I have turned thedialall the way cold.but thats the best i can get.the closest repair place would be 100 miles away.so I’d like fix oreliminatewhat isn’t the problem first I am handy.and this is a TRUE brand.any check this ideas?

I also have a True prep center also.
Mine has 2 fans in the upper compartment.
One went out. Would only cool To 50 degrees.
Clean coils are always a must.
    Make sure fan(s) working.
    That is easy to D.I.Y.

Bought mine used and it would run 38-40F on max cool, way to close to the limit for me.  A recharge fixed it, no leaks found.  Now max cool will run around 28F.

Second the coil-that is the number one thing that keeps the coolers from cooling well.  You can even unplug the units and use a water hose with a nozzle to clean the coils and fan.  Makes a huge difference

since you bought it used, check the coil first. if it is clogged with dust it will never cool right. at same time clean blades on the fan. if both are clean, its the thermostat

I would think It either needs freon or the thermostat is going bad.
I have a True also, brand new the thermostat went out in less than a year, repaired under warranty. I replaced that one about a year & half ago and is showing signs of going out again (runs and won’t shut off when it should, starts freezing during heavy use, other than that, holds perfect 39 degrees.

The repair guy told me that True’s are bad with thermostats .
The part was about 80 bucks, took 15 min to change.

I have a true GDM-10. It’s one of the smallest glass front merchandisers they make. It’s a ten cubic foot. It’s one of the only ones that will fit through an antique camper door. My Trailer is a 1949 Shasta. It’s a mini at eleven feet including the tang. It works great. I bought a second one for my truck build used and it is only working half the time. I found that the fan in the top isn’t always blowing. I am able to get it to work again by knocking the blade around and helping start to turn. I need to replace the fan motor but can’t figure out which of the three standard motors it is. Any one with any idea?

You might have to remove a panel towards the bottom of the unit to access the coils.  I have a 48″ True Sand. Prep (2/3 length opening) and I cleaned mine from the bottom (as it’s elevated about 9″).  You’ll see louvered or perforated vents where the baby radiator looking thing is (coils).  Fan will be on the back side of it and its more than likely caked with gunk…as normally happens.  What particular model do you have?
