There are some that use filet mignon, too expensive…
I use eye of round.
I did a sirloin tip for dinner last night with baked potato and corn on the cob. Sandwiches today, sliced thin, with horseradish/mayo sauce were excellent. Also like those made with leftover grilled flatiron steak. [:p] pb
I’ll agree…a lot has to do with how thin it’s cut….but I can still taste differences in various cuts! Have to have lots of pepper on my roast beef!
sirloin works great too, I like chuck pot roast style then shreded
I like eye of round…
Really good recipe, Hutt. Thanks.
I like slow cooked Blade Roasts. Tons of flavor.
A little fat improves flavor. [:p]
I don’t think the cut matters as much as much as how it’s sliced. You can use almost any cut as long as it’s sliced VERY thin, almost shaved. You can eat shoe leather if it’s sliced thin.
Also, I’ve had Pot Roast Sandwiches that were shredded with a little BBQ Sauce that were excellent.[:p][;)][8D]
We tried this recipe and loved it – it was so great because it was something we never had before!
Roast beef, Italian style! We used a bottom round roast, very tender and cooked medium rare.
Our cafeteria had roast beef sandwiches today with homemade roast beef. The Lady said she roasted a Top Round. It was pretty good… At home we use that sometimes, but mostly eye round. Is there at cut that makes a better sliced beef for a cold sandwich??? How do you prepare it????
