Try the Otis Cafe just off Highway 101 near Lincoln City,Oregon.
Even though it might not be for everyone, I really liked the meal I had at Samoa Cookhouse, outside Eureka, California. They bill themselves as the last genuine lumberjack eatery and everything is served family-style. Yeah, kind of touristy, but I enjoyed it.
Grab a copy of Northwest Best Places … that should give you some ideas for that part of the trip. They give reviews of places that are edgy.
