Wow guys ,THX a million. The Yankee Smokehouse Is not the place to go,the food is nothing to write home about. Sad to say,but Whitter’s is nothing special too. We ate there and the wait staff was terrible. I had a OK Prime Rib w/ potatoe ,but all the veggies were at the salad bar,no thanks. Again Thx.
Abondnte in Meridith has great food and wine. It has Jazz on Thursday nights. Watch it because Abondnte is a little pricey but worth the money.
My recommendation would be The Village Kitchen in Moultonboro. We have eaten there several times while staying at the lake and have always found the food to be very good and quite inexpensive. Their breakfasts are wonderful and, I believe, Saturday night is prime rib night (along with other favorites).
Loaf and Ladle in Exeter is one of my favorite stops. Homemade soups and Breads.
Pig’s Ear in Woodstock/Lincoln has great Texan Bar-B-Que.
Clam King in Manchester has great NE Chowder, fish and ribs.
Shorty’s Mexican Roadhouse has several locations in NH. It’s usually a fun place to go.
I would defer to Stephen’s comments, as I haven’t been to the Yankee Smokehouse in a while.
I still really recommend Down N’Dirty BBQ-Rick Brinkman uses hickory shag bark for his BBQ.
The Yankee Smokehouse looks and smells very promising from about 100 feet away, however, eating the food is an entirely different story.
If you have time the Sunny Day Diner in Lincoln is worth the trip. It is one of the few places that lives up to the hype. The banana bread pudding was great.

The Tilt’n Diner, Tilton,NH-complete with 50’s and 60’s "cruisin nights"-antique cars on display in the parking lot-always attracts a crowd during biker week-http://www.thecman.com/HTML/Restaurants_Tiltn.html
Good eatin’ DaveM
Whittier House, West Ossipee: Good food, many beer varieties.
Second on Hart’s Turkey Farm in Meredith: http://www.hartsturkeyfarm.com
My wife’s family and I eat there the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year, the first sally in a weekend’s worth of overindulgence culminating in a yearly church game supper in Bradford VT. This is my favorite weekend of the year, without fail.
Harts Turkey Farm is great in the Weirs Beach area, and the Moat Brewery has some excellent beers in Northern North Conway (route 16)
Any one have any good ideas around the lakes region in New Hampshire? I going to stay at Effenhaming Falls, near Conway and Ossipee. My son is at Lakeview Neurorehab Center there and we’re looking for some good place’s to take him? Weir’s Beach is not to far away, any ideas?
