Amazon wins the booby prize on this one. I am getting skunked by the “preparing for shipping” status. The book I’m sending as a gift has been “preparing for shipping” for the last three days. This is not super saver shipping either, I paid the full amount when I preordered Feb, 20th.
My own copy is coming from Target, will be here Saturday. I’ll be ordering stuff from Target from now on.
Wow….that is unreal! I ordered my copy at the end of February and received it the morning of March 7.

Ordered 3 copies on March 7th, still “preparing for shipment” as of March 14th. Plus I’m 30, 35 miles away from their giant distribution location. [:(]
Ordered my copy from Amazon on Thursday and received it today on Tuesday. Looking forward to perusing it several times and daydreaming of all the glorious eateries in my future.
We have been to Nunan’s Lobster Hut many times. I love that place. We love even more now that they serve adult beverages.[8D]
We had an Amazon package on the porch just now and I just new it was my copy. Turned out to be some crap to make my wife beautiful. Sigh….
Of the six, four of them are in New York:
http://www.duryealobsters.com Duryea’s in Montauk
http://lobsterroll.com Lobster Roll in Amagansett
http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2011/05/breakfast-at-toms-restaurant.html Tom’s Restaurant in Brooklyn
http://www.totonnosconeyisland.com Totonno’s in Brooklyn
Also:
http://www.nunanslobsterhut.com Nunan’s Lobster Hut in Kennebunkport, ME. I have driven past many times, but it always seems to be the wrong time of the year, as they are only open during the Summer.
http://virgilsatcimmiyottis.com Cimmiyotti’s in Pendleton, OR. The one time I was in Pendleton, Cimmiyotti’s was already out of business. They have since reopened under new management, but I still count it.
It is so rare that I ever get to claim that I have been to a Roadfood establishment that you are still missing, in part because of all the travel that we have completed together. But, Totonno’s is a favorite of mine and Tony Bad‘s, too.
It was also a place where we ran into Mario Batali on our http://forums.roadfood.com/NYC-Brooklyn-pizza-tour-PICS-m299413.aspx?high=totonno%27s Pizza Tour of NYC – almost ten years ago. Seems hard to believe that it is on your missing list.
Looking forward to getting the new Road Food book. I’ve been getting them since about the mid-80s. Great choice of including Mama’s in Bala Cynwyd, PA on the book cover. It is posssibly the best cheesesteak in the Philly region.

Too bad we no longer live on Long Island, you could have stayed by us. Lobster Roll in Amagansett has a north shore outpost in Baiting Hollow. http://lobsterrollnorthside.com http://lobsterrollnorthside.com/
I came home for lunch and my copy was already waiting for me.
Waiting on mine. Target says it’s arriving on Saturday, the gift copy I sent to a friend from Amazon will arrive next Monday or Tuesday.
Very excited!

The first Jane & Michael Stern book I came across was the 1997 Eat Your Way Across the USA. My goal was to visit all the places in the 1999 revised edition. I am down to six remaining.
Let’s schedule a meet-up at the last one!!!
Love that idea!
By the way Buffetbuster, which 6 do you have left.

The UPS driver handed me my copy about a hour ago. A quick glance through it shows me that it is really done well. I love all the telephone numbers! It looks like I am going to have a great afternoon of reading pleasure.
By the way Buffetbuster, which 6 do you have left. I loved that book and we went to many of the restaurants, but nothing compared to you.
