I have heard that the Greenbrier hushpuppies(at the Gin) sealed with deal with the Toyota plant. Huntsville mayor Loretta Spencer had the hushpuppies and white sauce delivered at one of the last negotations.
Huntsville now has a Toyota engine plant.
Can’t be a coincidence, as those hushpuppies are DELICIOUS!
I too am a fan of Greenbrier’s (the old one as I call it, not the one you can see from the I-565 spur). I absolutely love their hushpuppies (the best I have ever had) and their chicken w/white sauce. I always buy a pint of white sauce before I leave. I also dip my hushpuppies in the white sauce. I don’t think I have every gotten a bad meal at Greenbrier’s.
The warning about confusing Greenbrier Restaurant (Madison, AL)with Greenbrier Bar-B-Que is deceptive in that Greenbrier Bar-B-Que is the restaurant that was originaly housed in the location now named Greenbrier Restaurant. It is Greenbrier Bar-B-Que that is world famous for its Hush Puppies and catfish. It moved several years ago to its new location on ths service road of I-565.
I have been eating at the Greenbrier Bar-B-Que for 30 years both in its old location and new and the food and service have always been wonderful. I don’t know about the retaurant which moved in after Greenbrier Bar-B-Que moved and wouldn’t bother to find out.
