Hello all, I survived the hunting expedition and came home the winner, with morels AND pheasants. Ate way too much in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Flew back to Anchorage to do a 24 hour pit stop and left for Birmingham where we ate WAY too much BBQ, then to New Orleans and we can’t even go there now. It was a food orgy. I was without Internet for over two weeks, just flew in to Anchorage where it’s a beautiful 18F and the snow is just floating down and covering the trees. Can’t wait to break out the skiis tomorrow. Will post a "trip-tick" of all the great food consumed along with pictures!

I came to a lucid point about 28 hours after delivery, back in my private room in OB. I looked down and on my nightstand were ampules of haldol and ativan.(commonly used to calm psychotics down)I rang for the nurse, who happened to be a friend of mine. I alerted her that someone had mistakenly left this in my room. She grinned and said……"Uh………no mistake Missy………you’ve gone through a few of those in the past day. You were a wild woman, plus you were snoring so loud, after they determined you were not going into toxemia, they instantly moved you back so we could close the door and we could muffle you a bit."[:I]

    Well, how was the fare?

When I had surgery last year at the orthopedic hospital, I was stunned and amazed at how good the food was. People actually went to the hospital for lunch!

Well as for the fare……What average joe gets is pretty poor, imho. It’s my old hospital where I worked at and knew so many , that I get kind of spoiled. When the docs and nurses order out….they include me[:D] Marriott Corporation is the vendor for the hospital and when it was first built 15 years ago…….the food was amongst the best in town. They doled out the catering side of it about 7 years ago and it bottomed out beyond belief. Rumor has it they are going to franchise their own in there again and employees and patients are crossing their fingers.

And thanks everyone for the welcomes back….I missed y’all!

I was given a lovely morphine drip after my surgery and had entire conversations with all sorts of very nice asian people who were never there.

Glad to see you are back and doing reasonably well. Clearly, we missed you.

I guess I am lucky but I haven’t spent the night in the hospital since I was seventeen (knocking like crazy on wood right now). I went in for a ruptured appendix. On the evening after surgery I was nicely whacked on some kind of hydrocodone thing and flipping around the tube (three channels, no cable) and came across this nut in a spacesuit. I laughed so hard I literally split some of my stitches. Talk about laughing and crying at the same time[:D][:(]. This was the first episode of Robin William’s "Mork and Mindy". They took away the remote for a couple of days after they got me sewed back up[:(!]

Whew, Redtressed, I am so relieved you weren’t cheating on us! Last time I was in the hospital (thankfully 1983) my friend broke me out and pushed my wheelchair through a drive-in. But I did like filling out little menu cards every day…if only I could afford hotels instead!

CHICKEN livers, eh? And no one ever connected the fact that the majority of that same hospital’s liver surgeries were on Mondays…the day prior?

    Talk about your fresh livers!

When did I become your straight man? Did I miss that e-mail? I’ve got to start coming to those meetings.

    Clothier:

You’re not checking your e-mails. Youze guys meet at the Red Barn every Tuesday where, while listening to the "Hatchet," we dine on lutefisk, tamales and hot dogs. At the end of the meeting, we all raise our martini glasses and toast Joshua Chamberlain. At that point, our Secretary, redtressed, reads the minutes of last week’s meeting where we discussed annoying food trends.

    See you next Tuesday!

    – i

P.S. Nice cover on self-labeling yourself a "straight man." [:D][:D]

Excellent when served with fava beans and a nice Chianti.
