    It most certainly is, on Walnut between 4th and 3rd, more or less right across from the Dixie Terminal building

    There is another on Vine between 6th and 7th.

    As a former resident of Cincinnati, I also have eaten at the Red Squirel. Very good deckers. I liked there BLT’s. I used to eat at one right downtown. I do not know if it is still there.

    Don’t forget the sauce for that Red Squirrel Sandwich:

    Red Eye Cardinal Gravy

    2 Cardinals, plucked and prepared for cooking.

    3 thickly sliced pieces of bacon

    1 small onion, diced

    8 oz brewed coffee

    4 TBS flour

    Method;

    In a cast iron pan slowly fry bacon on low heat. add onions and Cardinals. Slowly add flour to pan stiring constantly. Slowly add coffee. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove Cardinals, debone and add meat to the gravy. Simmer until thickened.

    Your Red Squirrel sandwich is ready for the perfect topping. Red Eye Cardinal Gravy.

    The red squirrels we’ve been talking about, which are really fox squirrels, Sciurus niger , do exist in California. There are introduced populations of this species in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

    startrooper00, I am very familiar with the Red Squirrel brand. I remember eating at one in downtown Cincinnati back in 1990 before a Reds game–the first game of the World Series and they beat the Oakland A’s, ultimately winning the Series 4 games to 0!

    Other than that, I have eaten at their Fairfield location a number of times, the most recent being September 2000.

    Oh, and the chain is on the Web at http://www.redsquirrel.org/!
