Personally I really enjoy raw oysters.  I have been to the original in Mobile many times.  I always try to go at happy hour.  A half dozen and a beer was $5.00.  Many of us roadfooders have been there.  It was a easy walk from my Marriott hotel which was about six blocks away.

Well, looks like I will get the chance to try Wentzell’s. We added a day in Mobile to our trip (and then we’ll head north to Decatur and Big Bob Gibsons!). Can’t wait to try their seafood and oysters!

Heck, forget the chili-oysters are on the plate! Both restaurants look great!

I’m with you!  But you have to go to Graeter’s!!!!!  We can leave the oysters for a short time to make an ice cream stop.

Oysters? Oysters? What sort of critter would eat a raw oysters? No wonder lleechef was able to eat three dozen of those things at Wintzell’s. She was sitting next to you.

We are headed over to the Moonlite BBQ for their Friday nite dinner/buffet. In addition to all the usual BBQ stuff, they add fried Oysters, fried and boiled Shrimp, and of course fried Catfish.
The Oysters and Shrimp don’t measure up to the Gulf-Coast critters…but they are tasty !!

Twinwillow, I’d call that a necessary sacrifice![;)]

They may be different from coast to coast, but I never met an oyster I didn’t like!

I agree. Oddly, fried oysters don’t seem to bother me. Thank goodness!

Indian Pass Trading closed over the 4th due to heavy rains, but Hunt’s in PC was open over the weekend.  😉

We used to eat at the TODAI on either Harbor or Beach Blvd a short distance south of the 405 . The buffet had a variety of sushi and other Asian foods that were a real treat. Always had Mussels, and now and then Oysters. But shrimp in various forms made a fine meal. It has been a decade since we were there…Our rae oysters now come from the Gulf Coast when we get there…and the fried oysters are on the buffet at the Moonlite BBQ each friday nite. well worth a trip to Owensboro, KY.

The Anchor is well regarded for oysters.

I just checked out their website.  WOW!  That place looks fantastic.  Thanks for the tip!  [8D]

I looked at it, too…I agree. I got a good chuckle out of your “Greek meat sauce” comment.[:D]

Did you see the picture of the Bloody Mary with the lobster claw garnish?  Yikes!  That looks good too.

Yes, I will order that as well. That’s probably a $27 Bloody Mary! Just hold the horseradish glop for my oysters regardless of its health benefits. I really like that classic Migonette a lot better.

Yes, but if you eat the “horseradish glop” on the side, you can drink more Bloody Mary’s!  [woot]

Oh I can definitely eat 3 dozen raw oysters in one sitting!

3 dozen?  Try 3 pecks!  LoL

Oh, and to me, Chincoteague oysters are tops.

I downed 6 dozen (minus 3 or 4 that Annie tried as her intro to Oysters) of Wintzells Raw Bar at the Glee Club session. I was ready to order more, but my dinner showed up… Were we to do this again, I would have skipped the fried dinner (6 medium shrimp 2 Scallops and 4 oysters) and kept going on the raw on the half shell Oysters ! I don’t know about my limit, but at $6 per dozen, knocking down a gross (total count) would be cheaper than the appetizer & dinner I ordered last time.
