Just watched the video.. Man that looked like fun! So do you replace the brake pads on each pit stop? [;)]
Davydd – thanks for the kind words. As you can see, I did pass that red car. He got a GREAT start and made it through traffic alot easier than I did but my car has more top end. He got me out of the turns because he has way more torque but I was able to put some distance on him in the nascar turns and straights.
JohnA – got your email, responded, end of story [8D]
roosy90 – All speeds vary greatly with each car. I was placed in a group with cars doing well over 200 mph on both the front and back straights. My car is not geared for Daytona so I only saw 165 mph on the front straight and 159 mph on the back straight. In the infield, we saw speeds around 50 mph in Turn 1 (tough breaking from 165 down to 50 mph). Around the two hairpin turns, we were doing about 40 mph but the kink in between the two hairpin turns is a real "pucker" turn where we are doing somewhere between 90-100 mph while floating through that turn.
Here is an interesting thought for you: During one of my practice sessions, I was doing 165 mph down the front straight and got passed by a Porsche 962 doing 220 mph. Damn thing was doing nearly 60 mph faster than me. Felt like I got the paint sucked off my car after he passed. [:0]
Sundancer7 – got your email and responded. I would be happy to help you find anything you want. But all meals are on ME!!
Big_g – You are definitely right about those sounds. That red car is a real European Carrera RS and I thought it sounded amazing! Sorry, I was not able to share the track with a 917 but that is a good thing! I doubt I would have been able to concentrate seeing one of those things coming up behind me. [:I]
Looked like great fun….LOVE them P -cars. There’s nothing that sounds like a flat 6 at work..unless its a 917 [:D]
Bluemaxx. I sent you an email. I have an interest in some commercial real estate in that part of FL that you are in.

Just curiouss.. whats the average speed you guys were doing there?…
Straighaway and on the turns?….
Email on the way.
Fantastic clip. I was hanging in there all the way hoping you would pass that red car. [:D]
Paul – Boy, are you right about Turn #4!!! In fact, the bump there was so big and since I was one of the slower cars in my group (not my class), I had to take the lower line to let the faster cars pass up above to my right. The bump in the middle of Nascar Turn 4 is so big and right smack in the middle of my shift point from 5th to 6th gear, that I would literally move over to the middle of the track without steering. WOW! was that scary!
JohnA – planning to come up for the day on Jan 25th. I won’t be racing but helping a few other teams with their car setup. Not sure if I will have time to do lunch just yet but if I do, I will call you and see if you can get away to The Brickyard, ok?
Hi Rich, very neat. See you back in Daytona this year.
Bluemaxx. I enjoyed the clip very much. I am sure that you had a very good seat belt particularly on the #4 turn.
I’ll bet you also enjoyed the Brickyard???

BhamBabe – YES, I feel very special to have gotten to know you here. You really made our visit to Bham a REAL treat. Can’t wait to go back actually. Hopefully later thi year. If you are around, a good meal is on me anywhere you want!! [:p]
Whooo Howdy! I felt like grabbing the dash and slamming on some brakes a couple of times. But that’s why you are the racer and I aint lol
BTW, you were the reason I signed up here. I had been browsing and found your post. You were looking for places near Leeds/Irondale, Alabama to eat. My very first post was to you. Now don’t you feel special? [:p]
2007 served as a great year for my race team, Bluemaxx Racing. And thanks you many of you, some of our best racing came before, during or after eating at some GREAT Roadfood joints. The absolute BEST part of our racing calendar is whenever another Roadfood member comes up and indroduces themselves. It is awesome to get recommendations from you all online but to meet you in person is over the top. Thanks!
This year will surely bring another year of travel for me and my team and every once in a while I will post a link for you all to see how one of our races went. Until then, enjoy this little clip of me racing at Daytona. It is only the first 3 laps of my race but I had a good race going with the red Porsche, eventually passing him and beating him. Enjoy!
