There’s also a great seafood dive on State Route 6 in/near Port Tobacco. It’s a small crab shack 8-10 miles West of LaPlatta on you right. May be closed for season.
Doc’s Seafood on Indian Head Highway. Near Bryan’s Road. About 15 miles south of the belt way.
also, may be closed for season. Not sure.
If by Southern MD you mean St. Mary’s Co. _ Clark’s Landing outside of Hollywood MD is excellent. But not really roadfood prices! They have a deck that looks out on the Patuxent River. We don’t eat oyters, so I’m not sure if they had them on the menu, but I expect they would. BTW, third weekend of Oct. is an Oyster Festival in Leonardtown. Occurs simultaneosly with a gathering of 17th living history groups at St. Mary’s City.
Here’s a bit taken off St. Mary’s Co. Travel and Tourism site:
Clarke’s Landing Restaurant
24580 Clarke’s Landing Road
Hollywood MD 20636
Fresh seafood, steak, steamed crabs. Banquet room holds 60. Waterfront and outside dining. Carryout available. Open Memorial Day September. Closed Mondays, October – May.
I like downtown Annapolis myself but the DC waterfront is good too.
Fish Market off of Maine Ave, SE. Also called the SE Waterfront.
Then walk over to the Cantina Marina for a drink.
The fish market is quite a throw back, and I’ve done the raw oysters and clams dozens of times. NEVER gotten sick, and my stomach is no war horse any more.
Any recommendations for raw oysters in this area? Ideally, somewhere I can sit outside, park the dog, have a drink…
I live in Rockville but I may be in southern MD this weekend.
