I met her once back at Bob’s Diner and she was a real hoot.  What a character!  So sorry to hear about her passing.

Wendy Betten, the owner of The Hot Metal Diner, in West Mifflin, PA. (near Pittsburgh) died last Saturday at age 54.

I only went there a few times, but always had both an excellent meal and a lot of fun.

The restaurant is still open for now, though the website is currently down.

    In Pace Requiescat.

The Hot Metal Diner is now closed. [:(]  I was to meet my niece and nephew Saturday.

Anyone have any recommendations in the general area of West Mifflin/McKeesport/White Oak. Maybe even by the Waterfront.

Hate to rely on Denny’s or even Steak and Shake.

[p]Love this thread!  In my past two trips to Chicago, I fell hard for the Chicago-style dogs.  David, in one of your pictures above there are listings on the menu for a Char Polish and a Maxwell Street Polish.  What’s the difference between the two?  Method of cooking?  Toppings?  Those were two things (among many others) that I have yet to try.  Thanks![/p]
