Kirsby, thanks for the info on the lake ferry! I looked up that express ferry website and they had a lot of info for things to do in both Wisconsin and Michigan. It is a quick trip on that express ferry – two hours!!
Again, thanks for sharing about your trips (enjoyed the report on NC too!), esp. the pics. Boy did that lobster look great! [:p]
If anyone is lurking, I’d be watching!!!
Your trip is the kinda thing I’d love to watch!!
You’ve got my vote!! [:o)]
It seems no matter how far we ride I always get depressed when we come home. I get into such a routine of getting up, packing the bike, putting on my gear, and then heading to the next night’s destination. Every day is an adventure.
If anyone from the Food Network or Travel Channel ever wanted to do a show where they followed us around the country on our motorcycle and logged our stops, that would be my (and my husband’s) dream job. Any chance they lurk out here? [:)]
Very much looking forward to that!!!Ann
I think those are just the husks from the corn on the cob.
Maybe I’ll do a separate post with pics from NC. Now that I know how to post pics you all are in for it![;)] Have to wait til after work though. I’ll try to get to it tonight.
Kirsby, what is this???
oops-not rockie-SMOKIES!!!(I just woke up….[|)])
Kirsby-would absolutely like some suggestions from you when we head down towards Raleigh…and of course the rockies are a must since I have only seen them from a car window.Gotta break in the new Roadglide!!!!!!![8D]
Agree with everyone else, Great post. I’m just outside of Annapolis Md and also done a lot of motorcycle touring, know what it’s like to ride in the rain. Went out to utah a few years ago in rode in three staight days of rain, we couldn’t see how you could ride east to west and stay in rain so long.
The trip lasted three weeks and over 6,000 mile and must say it was so strage to get back into a car when we got back.
Was not a Roadfooder then, i would hope to have done i good of post as you guys have.
Pity those you only know 4 wheels!!
Al, you have some serious competition finally.
Thanks for the great pictorial and the write. I felt like I was really there.
I like the pic the best that was on Cadillac Mountain. I truly enjoyed the 360 degree view. I have been there several times.

You are welcome, Kirby!
Thanks for the kind words….
The ferry to Ludington I think docks at Manitowoc. The ferry from Milwaukee goes to Muskegon. Its only been in service for a few years. It is much faster than the other ferry.
Will you be stopping in the Smokies on your way to Raleigh? Loyd and I rode down there last May to "tame the Dragon". We stayed in Maggie Valley. Beautiful place. Great riding roads and some great roadfood. Let me know if you would like some suggestions.
Thanks all for the feedback. Especially to Tara for all your help and advice!
Wow, great report, thanks for sharing it with us! [:)] Great food, great pics too (love the shot from Bar Harbor, btw!). Is that Lake Michigan ferry the one that docks in Ludington, btw? I know there’s a route out of Ludington, but don’t know where it docks in Wisconsin.
What a neat post. Excellent work. I’ve always wanted to go on a cross country bike trip, and now that I’ve seen Alton Brown’s "Feasting on Asphalt" I want to go even more.
wow………………. great job !
I’ll have to be honest here when I first saw your trip itinerary last month I never thought you guys would ever get to the coast in such a shot time. ……………. and a 4 lb lobster was a good choice to reward yourself for such a long ride.
