That was very much my one experience with the Sunset Grille–I wouldn’t mind the wait if the food was a knockout, but not so much.
Unfortunately it looks like the Old Post Office may be closed for good. My wife and I were at Edisto Beach this weekend and saw the building had "For Rent" sign’s on it. The Sunset Grill was also closed. We were looking forward to trying the Old Post Office based on the reviews.
We did try the Waterfront Restaurant on Jungle Road and had a wonderful meal. New England Clam Chowder was the special soup for the night. I ordered it and found it was quite good, thick with lots of clams. For an entree my wife and I both ordered the Fried Flounder. It came with a choice of salad or slaw, choice of potato and steamed mixed vegetables. The menu said it was a pound of flounder and I believe it, there were two large filet’s on the plate. Lots of locals having dinner there, always a good sign.
Hi everyone. Just a warning that the Old Post Office on Edisto Island SC is closed for some period of time for remodeling. We were at Edisto last weekend and on Saturday evening made our regular pilgrimage there to find it.. CLOSED. We went back to the Sunset Grille on the dockside in town, and found that it is a "sister" restaurant to OPO. One of the wait staff from OPO was there and told us that it would be closed for about another 4-6 weeks, meaning it would likely reopen in May. Guess we’ll just have to make another trip there about then.
By the way.. the Sunset Grille was a real disappointment. The place was very overcrowded, noisy and extremely unorganized. The night we were there, people were waiting an hour for their food after they ordered. We didn’t have to wait that long, but the food was only OK when it did arrive. The up-side was that the view from the dining area was awesome at sunset.
