What’s going on is they’re finally letting her go. They blocked the trip when she was 13.
Makes perfect sense to me, girls can be diffcult at 13, that additional year gives them a far more realistic grasp of life and it’s risk management.

Yep, female, still a kid, BUT from a Country where folks cut their first teeth sailing, Newfoundland. Nonetheless, what’s going on here?
David_NYC brings up an interesting point. I’ve long felt that daredevils should have to post a bond to cover the potential costs now incurred by the taxpayer should their adventures require a rescue or other effort.
At least she’ll be separated from those perpetually erected, hormone crazy, 14 year old boys!

I understand this girl is from the Netherlands.
But, this is a free candy store here. If the kid needs to be rescued at a cost of, say, half a million dollars, various governments pay. They should look at changing international law to require insurance coverage for people attempting these voyages.
