I’d suggestThe Shack in East Lyme, CT, which is just off I-95. If you’re coming down I-84 and want to detour into Middletown, there’s some really good Yankee chili at O’Rourke’s Diner.
In New England, 90% of the food establishments think Chili is something you put on top of a hot dog. Beware, some places that have chili on the menu will give you the same stuff that’s used on the chili dogs.
Not one place between NYC and Bean Town stick out in my mind. I would put my trust in what’s listed in Roadfood.

I’m with you on that point…living in Framingham MA and haven’t found any decent chili. There was a chili parlor in Brookline, Kokopelli’s, but they went belly up about 2 years ago.
