Termays: These photos are great!!!! I recommend everyone take a peek & see NM here!!
Actually that sounds exactly like the Ranch Kitchen!
My family also knows that stretch of highway well, I have relatives in New Mex and AZ so we try to make it out there on occasion. I used to own timeshare weeks at a nearby resort as well, out of convenience, but we more or less had a similar experience to yours and found it increasingly less convenient over time and more and more dollar burning. Anyway, in the end we hired a timeshare relief company and so it worked out to some degree, but my advice there would be to watch out for scams and don’t be afraid to cut your losses.
But I digress. My family used to really like the Ranch Kitchen. Haven’t been in a while. They make a "Navajo Taco" with frybread that is quite delicious. I don’t remember the flag thing but I looked it up earlier and there’s testimony to that affect. Check it out: http://chefmoz.org/United_States/NM/Gallup/Ranch_Kitchen1034825877.html

I’m pretty sure that was the Ranch Kitchen but couldn’t swear to it.
I don’t know the place, but was in Gallup? It’s interesting country out there and I-40 near AZ is amazing!
The flag idea is good! (but did they have to have all 50 states + half the UN available for all customers?)
This is actually not so much a "where should I eat" as a "where DID I eat"? I’ve been trying to figure it out. I own a timeshare in Sedona, bought it when I was living in Albuquerque, and so I’d typically take the 40 freeway over when I could get the weeks (which wasn’t too often…I actually visit the thing LESS now that I live in Arizona, due to all the restrictions, but that’s a whole other mess, arg). Anyhow, I remember once stopping at this place (I think it was before I hit the AZ line). Not terrible food, kind of tex-mexy, but the thing I mostly remember is that everyone was given a small flag from their respective state or country to place on their table. It was a really interesting idea, on my way to the bathroom I wound up chatting with some folks from Holland. Anyone have any idea where it was? Drivin me nuts…
New Mexico restaurant…anyone know?
