Thanks CTF—one of the things I miss is the fall colors—-
but there is a lot to be said for swimming outdoors in January.

Fall colors are lovely—-raking the leaves not so.

I have a viw of the Smokey mtns but I have a better view of the Tennessee River.  My deck is only 30 feet from the banks of the river.  It is pretty wide behind my deck at 1/2 mile but the river gets much wider on downstream.  Great birding as we regularly have great blue heron, black crown night heron, osprey and of course the eagle.  Migrating warblers and many other birds rest on the trees on my deck.  You can see my pic on the front page of meet the Roadfood team on the front page.  The river is directly behind my pic.

I’m at Williamsburg, VA, this week and in some places the leaves are breathtaking. I think it will probably peak next week. The extreme dryness has had an effect, according to the natives.

WoW! And at this time of year! WoW! And… nice Pics!

I live in a place called Mountain View but… there are no Mountains in N. texas. *&^#@ There is just a wooded hill behind where I live. The only view in that direction is the woods. :~((  I do have a lake in front though.

Very nice photos! Our heavy winds of the last few days pretty much took away a lot of leaves as well as some big trees.

Kati took these pics today, we were spared most of the storms.

Looking out of my windows here is a beautiful, almost sacred experience as St. Mary’s mountain, as it’s known is steeped in lore and Catholic tradition.
At the highest point you see, it’s called Indian Lookout, extensive signs of longterm settlement by Indians, hundreds of years ago, was a place used by the Army of the Potomac to watch Confederate troop movenent prior to the battle of Gettysburg. As you look south you can see some of the buildings of Mt. St. Mary’s University, the second oldest Catholic College in the Country, 1808, vs. Georgetown 1789. If you look hard you can see a huge gold statue on the mountain, behind the campus where The National Shrine of the Grotto of Lourdes is located, it’s an incredibly beautiful , peaceful, sacred place, many miracles attributed to it’s spring waters, tourists from all over the world flock to the Grotto. My home property and the Grotto are contiguous at a certain point. The leaves started a serious change the day before yesterday. Rt 15 right here, beautiful scenic ride!
