While the Carnegie deli pastrami at Costco is not exactly the same thing as what is served at the deli itself, it is a pretty darn good approximation. My biggest gripe is that the Costco product is a good deal "wetter;" you really have to drain a great deal of whatever it is they pack it in (brine?)

That looks SOOOOO good!!! I know the Carnegie pastrami is not going to be near as good as a meal in the Deli, but I think I’ll buy some at Costco next time I visit, as well as some half sours. I grew up in Connecticut, but the next time I’ll be passing through NYC will be on my way to my 20th hs reunion, in 4 years, lol.

I went to NYC last week and had that sandwich at Carneigie Deli … I have to say it was the best Pastrami on Rye I have ever had… I can’t wait to go there again.

<<Yes Costco does sell it so that you can take it home and enjoy it.>>

I’ve had the Costco Carnegie deli Pastrami and I’ve been to the Carnegie Deli. Anyone who thinks that what they sell at Costco is remotely as good as the real thing, has never been to the Carnegie Deli.

PS: I’ve been to the Carneigie Deli a few times thru the years. My favorite memory of there is when we took my daughter when she was about 8. She looked over to the next table and and announced in her loud clear voice "That’s Roseanne (Barr)!!", Typical of NY, no one until that point had even noticed, including my wife and I. At which point Roseanne looked over and said "Well at least SOMEBODY knows I’m here". We still talk about it. –Ken

Yes Costco does sell it so that you can take it home and enjoy it. Also in the NE they have it on their menu in the food court for 5.99 pickle included. It’s delish!!![:p]

My first time at the Carnegie I had the Woodie Allen, Corned Beef and Pastrami on Rye.

The Cole Slaw was great and yes, they have both sour and half sour pickles!

    I think I’m in love.
Too bad I’m stuck in this midwestern, regional food vacuum.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!!!!

Our local supermarkets carry Ba-Tempte half sours; see if yours does. They will be in a refrigerated section, if they leave them on the shelf too long they will get soft due to the brine. Take them back.

None at the grocery stores here.
I had to order them online thru Amazon/Gourmet site.
(still shuddering at the cost)–That was back in spring. I have not reordered any yet.

The (N.Y.C.) food thing is definitely looking up here in Dallas.
Costco is selling Carnegie Deli Pastrami. Central Market is selling Ba-Tempte
products as well as Sabrett products. Tom Thumb Markets are selling Yoo-Hoo and Fox’s U-bet chocolate syrup.
And, believe it or not, Wal-Mart is selling…….Mallomars!
Who needs to go to NY?

Man, do I miss that here in the desert. And Harold’s. And Katz’s.
