I’m not sure how far away it is to you, but Greenwood’s on Green (1087 Green Street, Roswell, GA 30075-3608) is absolutely worth a special trip. It’s good old-fashioned Southern cooking, huge portions, and everything is wonderful. The story goes that the chap cooking there used to cook for The Beatles and Elvis on tour at some point. My parents live nearby and when we all go to visit, it’s the first place we go. A classic!

Was in Athens yesterday, taking the daughter to UGA. There are several places in the area – roadfood types, for example. I can’t help you w/ Braselton though, except if you go toward Franklin Springs, you have to try Zeb’s BBQ. ORT must be in jail, we haven’t heard from him in a while. I’m in Marietta, so if you need the info for that area, let me know.

Porkbeaks is a name my wise-ass wife called me back in our dating days. It’s merely a takeoff on my actual last name. When I joined my first on-line bbq group, I thought it sounded right for a screen name. Now you can try to come up with what my real name is. pb

I’ll be a good bit south and slightly west when I get to Warner Robins, but if you decide to do a Georgia road trip, let me know!

Gee, if you now live in Georgia, then you can try the "fancy" "$$$" Italian restaurant that is featured in the thread called "How would you order?". [;)] Just don’t expect anything authentically Italian, or fancy, or even $$$, and you won’t be disappointed!

Seriously though, I hope that you enjoy your new abode and find some great eating places in the vicinity.

We sold our house in Vero Beach and relocated to Hoschton, Ga. (about 20 WNW of Athens). Hope to meet Ort one of these days. This is the first time I’ve been on line in almost a month and, with the amount of stuff I’ve got left to do around the house, it might be I won’t have time to catch up on all the RF posts for a while. Just thought I’d check in and say hi. So far, I’ve found good pizza (Vinny’s), acceptable Mexican (Las Volcanes), and excellent BBQ (Hickory Wind) all in the Hoschton/Braselton area. pb
