Personally, I think there would be problems keeping everything clean. Selling dogs off a cart, you keep a lid on your steam pans to keep dust, dirt, and pests away from the food. With ice cream, how are you going to prevent dust, dirt, and bugs from getting on and in your nozzles? Not to mention the nightmare of towing the thing and keeping it sanitary (and keep parts from falling off).
I think you’d have better luck with an enclosed trailer. One like the small coffee carts I sometimes see, where the operator stands outside, but your ice cream machine and frappe mixer is safely behind plexiglass. When a customer comes up, you slide a section of plexi open and serve, then close up again. Nice, neat, clean, and
professional.
Have any of you ever looked into doing soft serve ice cream on an open cart? They make these small counter top 115v soft serve machines… Just thinking outside of the box, would this fly with the health department? If you had on board refrigeration and a freezer which are easily doable, along with a two or three head mixer for malts and shakes, etc. Just wondering, as it would not be to difficult to use the EZ hot dog cart plans to build such a cart.
