I have enjoyed Grauter’s, the Cincinnati-based mini-chain for years. I don’t know if they reach up into your part of Ohio, but if they do they are worth a try. I like the Toffee Chip myself, but the Black Raspberry Chip i supposed to be their flagship flavor.

On the less expensive side, the Convenience store chain in Ohio..Rural Farmers Dairy Stores or some name like that puts out a very good ice cream at a buck a scoop for big cones. We look for those stores whenever we head for the Mt Vernon area for Genealogy research!![:p]

i found a "Micro-Creamery" in Beverly Hills, CA called Silky Smooth Ultra Creamery. They make everthing from scratch right behind the front counter, and it is soooo fresh! It comes out of the machine in ribbons, then they scoop it for you. This stuff is really special, worth the hassle of parking at the mall.

    In Canton, Ohio

Taggart’s Ice Cream – I think it around 1400 block of Fulton Rd. It is not far from The Pro Football Hall of Fame.

All ice cream made on-site – Their specialty confection is a Bitner Special – As I recall it is 5 scoops of vanilla ice cream, a shot of home made chocolate sauce – blended – poured into a soda glass – topped with a ladle of pecans. At least that is how we made them 45 plus years ago.

I found this Forum by searching Google because I am so Distrought over the Demise of Bryers …

Well I was hashing all this out in my head today, and I thought about how there are really quite a few of these "Micro-Breweries" around, Who many of which make some very Excelent BEER…
And it dawned on me that there just Might be some small local Places that actualy "make" thair own Ice Cream with out all of the Gums, Seaweed, and Crap in it… Don’t say Handels, I one day saw them unloading dozens of Vacume Sealed Plastic bags of this partialy frozen Offwhite "Product" about 2 or 3 Gal. size I would guess. I guess there BIG Sign that Shouts " HOME MADE ICE CREAM " means that now Mixing in the Artifical Flavors counts as Home Made… So I realy got my doubts about them…

So dose any one know of any place that might be makeing Real Ice Cream in the N. E. Ohio area? Price is Not, Well Barley, a consideration… I sure would LOVE to find something to replace my Beloved "Bryers All Natural Vinella" w/ Real crushed up specs of vinella Bean… And Nothing Else! Please Help
