Drambuie in Texas those burritos the size of one’s head are called Mariachis.
I really can’t comprehend anyone loving McDonald’s breakfast burrito. My difficulty is not based on social policy nor is it for health reasons, but it’s purely for reasons of taste. The McDonald’s breakfast burrito is a skinny, relatively flavorless little packet which cannot be compared to a real breakfast burrito.
Of course, since I have driven hours for White Castle hamburgers, I really am in no position to condemn anyone’s particular food preferences. [;)]
In any event, does anyone else know what I’m talking about? I’m talking about those huge burritos, filed with fried potatoes, egg, cheese, and chorizo sausage (or bacon) and topped with a generous helping of green (or red) chili; the kind of breakfast burrito that you can get at Playa de Oro (Denver, Colorado) or at various little Mexican restaurants throughout the Southwest.
The real thing puts McDonald’s breakfast burrito to shame, and will spoil you forever. It’s like having a pizza from Pepe’s or Sally’s in Conneticut, and then trying to order from Dominos. You can never go back. <sigh>
Alright, mustard IS more diet friendly, I’ll give you that Rick…I might have permanent brain freeze from their Route44 Fresh Lime slushes[:D]
Aside from my admitted lust for MCD breakfast burritos (I bet my congregation wonders what that aroma is at early Mass on Sunday!), I must disagree about Sonic. They’re individually and lovingly prepared ([:D]). Your only error is, of course, your preference for the #1. #2 is clearly superior. And I wish they’d change their numbering system, for obvious reasons. But they’re still the best FF chain around!
Aside from the prejudice against NYC and semites, SchmickyD’s still sucks. North Platte gentile and Brooklyn Jew– same. Frontier breakfast burrito and Ronald’s McBleh!rito– not the same.
I drove by a McDonalds today (NW Indiana) and on the sign it said they now have Johnsonville Brats.
trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve seen a McDee’s selling a crab cake, ranks right up there with those lobster rolls!![xx(] Unbelievably they do this on Marylands Eastern shore yet!!
While briefly living in Albuquerque shortly after graduating from college in 1987 I remember Wendy’s was selling GREEN CHILI CHEESEBURGERS. Never tried one though, and that was back in my fast food days!
How about the Chili-Burgers McD’s did a while ago…..that had chili WITH BEANS on it?
I forgot about McDonald’s trying hot dogs about six months ago. I guess that didn’t fly any better than the bratwurst. Then there were the mini-corn dogs they had a while back.
Concerning the McDonald’s Breakfast Burrito: At least one REGIONAL FF chain came up with this idea LONG before McDee’s did. I must say they are quite a bit better than the McDonald’s offerings. I must admit however, that on RARE occasions I did partake of a McDee’s Egg McMuffin and (shudder)[:I]… a Steak, Egg, & Cheese Bagel…[:0]
Poor Yumbo…You’ve been getting beaten up on this one. I don’t know about Mc Brats, but in Maine they offer Mc Lobster Rolls! EEEK! But the thing is, there certainly are some things at McD’s that are addicting. And yes, even Roadfooders might succumb to the Golden Arches…At one time they were pretty good. Or maybe that being a kid in the early 60’s it was just novelty. Hey..if ya eat a Mc Burrito once in awhile, it helps you remember WHY you love Roadfood!
"Your in Wisconsin now. Does McD’s offer a Mc Brat!"
They tested them in Central Ohio a couple of years ago. Apparently they didn’t do well.
Your in Wisconsin now. Does McD’s offer a Mc Brat![:D]
I think I do remember one McD’s doing a test market of it in the Bremerton, Washington area, believe it or not. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did come out with one, though, seeing as how they’re trying to stimulate sales by introducing some weird gimmick every other month.
Out here in Milwaukee you can get your McD fries with melted cheese: you get a 1/2 inch tall plastic tub filled with orange goop. It comes with the Sargento’s label (to give it legitimacy). [xx(]
Well, there already is a thread in the Breakfast section called Breakfast Burritos. Maybe this is where this thread should be placed. Alternatives to McD’s may be found there including the nearly life sized photo courtesy of Mr. Stern of the most appetizing breakfast burrito I’ve ever seen.
