In this case I am fairly certain it was regular soy and sugar. I suppose you could experiment with brown sugar honey, Splenda, maybe even mirin.
I made it a time or two and it was good, but I lost the recipe.
There are many different types of soy sauce.
Sounds good OKC but what is "sweetened" soy sauce?

Mama San’s Chicken was what my newpaper food section called it a long time ago.
Basically it was a fried chicken (probably dusted in part or entirely with corn starch) and then dipped in sweetened soy sauce before serving. The crust was still crisp, but salty-sweet.
Anyone have a recipe for this?
