I ordered hot dog gift packs for my 3 kids in California 2 Christmases ago. The pack was about $30-something and the shipping was around $50 for each one. Kids and I are originally from Chicago and they really appreciated it. They have to ship them next day air or 2nd day at the latest if I recall. It’s the shipping that kills ya. You could probably get a round-trip train ticket to Charlotte for less and sample ours. We have the dogs, Polish, Italian, beef sandwiches and poppy buns shipped in from Vienna (through our distributor).

I hear these mail order food kit advertised on the radio all the time here in Chicago.

I’d suggest you come to here and try them in person. Byron’s serves a great classic dog and Mr. Beef does a fantastic Italian Beef Combo (dipped w/an Italian sausage crammed in it) that will shave years off of your life.

I can’t stand Chicago-style deep dish pizza, give me a huge NY slice instead.

I have never been to Chi-town-but am dying to go. I have been on the Vienna web site and they offer a hotdog kit/and an Italian beef kit that you can make at home. It has everything you need including buns. I want to try it but not sure if it worth the $$. The same goes for Chi-town pizza-very expensive to mail order. Just trying to get some opinions.

My brother and his bride sent me a Vienna dog kit for Christmas once and it was excellent!

I sent my cousin a kit from there-pretty quick delivery and pretty generous portions.

Fluky’s is a pretty decent local dog. I think Treasure Island grocery stores carry them.

I got a Fluky’s mail-order Chicago hot dog kit last year, and it worked out fine. They sent poppy-seed rolls, hot dogs, neon-green relish, mustard, a jar of sport peppers. You supply your own tomato and pickle (I used Claussen).

I’m thinking of doing the Vienna kit this summer, if I don’t go to Chicago.
