senor boogie woogie
Personally, I refuse to wait in line to be seated in a restraunt. I am there to spend my money in your establishment, I should not have to wait to pay someone. A place that makes people wait is inefficient,my example is the DMV.
If the place you like always has a long wait, they need to build a bigger seating area and hire more waiters.
We were STUFFED, but we forced room for a slice of dulce de leche cheesecake. We shared a piece, and even though it was pure heaven, it was a chore to get down.
We loved it, all the components, even if we didn’t get seated until midnight!
I went to a Cheesecake Factory yesterday for the first time. Thanks for the advice about waiting. I was at the door at 10:50 and did not have to wait. I was surprised at how well prepared the food was and how much you received in the lunch portions. I’m a big eater and did not finish the salad and lunch size veg. pizza. Good thing I didn’t eat breakfast.
I could not handle a dessert!! Next time I’ll just go for coffee and cheesecake. The chocolate ones sound wonderful and I’m not a choc-aholic either!
Time for me to play dumb mid-westerner again. The Cheesecake Factory?
Waht sort of food do they serve? Maybe that stonecrab cheesecake Emeril was trying to serve in Miami? Lox cheesecake like my Bubbe used to make, only she died without ever passing the recipe along to my mom, and nothing, I mean nothing else tastes like that?
I think it’s koala cut.
When I’m dragged off to an "Outback" I order the rack of lamb- it’s delicious and a Hell of a lot better than the beef. BTW Just what cut is that beef?
Oh, and isn’t the infamous Outback Steakhouse famous for its long waits? It was 2 hours last Friday for that crappy pseudo-Australian food that horrifies folks from that very country.
Did what? – Can we see it from here? – Is it reasonably "G" rated? – Is it edible? – Is it animal, vegetable, or mineral? – Is it Kosher, Pareve, or does it matter? – Is there enough for all of us to share? – Gracious, you have me (epi)curious! – I’ll stop here in fear of becoming too Existential.

P. S. That’s a good idea for a low-fat doughnut: filled with ideas: word fluff, not sweet stuff.
P. P. S. How about starting a thread: "Shortest Wait To Eat"?
clothier – now..now…now….don’t go there…[:I]
30 minutes is about our max.
Longest was at Colombia’s in Y’bor City in Tampa…about 1.5 hours but was had a nice pitcher of Sangria while we waited so maybe it was looonnngggeer that we thought.[:o)]
This is a topic that can really annoy me. I generally draw the line at about 30 minutes, perhaps a litle longer for a place I know is really good or has just received a very positive review by one of the local food critics. Many of the best, and best known restaurants in the area (Woodmans and Farnhams, for example), are not really limited by seating capacity, so they have to be VERY busy for the wait to go much past my limit. I think what annoys me most, though, is that many of the local chain outlets (Olive Garden, Bugaboo, Outback, Chili’s, etc.) can have waits up to 2 hours or more. This is all pretty much the same homogenized pre-cooked stuff, so what is the big deal? Strangely, I have been to the Cheesecake Factory in Providence Place several times and never had to wait more than about 10 – 15 minutes. Despite being a chain place, I like the food there pretty well.
Ort. Carlton, as I read your post on this thread I’m also watching the "City Confidential" where you make a guest appearance.
When I started reading this thread, I could only think of one place I have waited any lentgh of time – Stroud’s. It was a rainy night, too!! You’re being kind calling it a waiting area. The night I was there they needed a shoe horn to get any body in there. Would I go back, you bet!! Great food!! Still have my "We choke our own Chickens" T-shirt[}:)][:D]
I’m right there with you regarding Stroud’s. I was there on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, and think I waited close to 3 hours. But, their grounds (park + duckpond) are so nice that the wait was part of the pleasure. The food was TOTALLY worth it, too.
I also treasure my "We Choke Our Own Chickens" t-shirt (and the looks I get when I wear it)![:p]
