I used to like Chris ‘N Pitt’s.  Great beans.

We had an instance of Red Hot and Blue in Pittsburgh for a while, and I really enjoyed it. I think their quality dropped before they closed, though.

BBQ Chains – only a couple – in DC there’s a local small chain of maybe three locations called King Street Blues. Their pulled pork sandwich really is good. Ribs are good – but the really good stuff is limited to just these couple items and a few solid side dishes.

In NY – another three location chain called Dinosaur Bar-b-cue. Syracuse, Rochester and NYC.

Nothing else seems to compare. Smokey Bones? are you kidding me? Famous Dave’s? I think not.

I actually liked Famous Dave’s way more than King Street Blues.  Just my opinion…

I do not think much of Smokey Bones aside from a couple of their side dishes.

Is there any barbecue chain that could be considered truly national?  Up here we have Famous Dave’s, Smokey Bones, and Damon’s (which served me some truly awful ribs once), but those are all I can think of.

Famous Dave’s is the best BBQ chain, in my opinion.

I don’t care for either Sonny’s or Bar-B-Cutie at all, although Sticky Fingers is not bad.  The only chain barbecue I rated at all was Famous Dave’s, which left this market.

Yardman, if you like brisket, come up I-575 to Bub-Ba-Q.  They have two stores, in Jasper and in Woodstock, and their beef brisket is really excellent and wins all kinds of awards at cookoffs.  I wrote it up on our food blog two months ago:

It’s been awhile since I’ve been there, I believe it was on Burbank Blvd…  van nuys/north hollywood area
..wonder how they’re doing, or IF they are doing ??

and come to think of it, I went to the one in Anaheim in 2003… had a brontosaurus beef rib …

Of the few barbecue chains I’ve tried, I enjoy Sonny’s, Sticky Fingers, Bar-B-Cutie, and Whitt’s.

Okay, while BBQ chains are not my favorite cup of tea {there are plenty of better places named “Joe’s BBQ”}, maybe we should post our favorite ones.  I am very partial to Smokey Bones.  Their competition team has always done well in competitions and I find their food generally very good.  I particularly like their brisket, though that may be since it is pretty hard to get, normally, here in Georgia. Let’s hear other ideas.

Bakers Ribs in Dallas. They may also have locations elsewhere but not sure.

Smokey Bones for BBQ?   Not that’s a joke.  You must also go to Red Lobster for seafood & Olive Garden for Italian.     Tried Damon’s just once and found it equally terrible.  While not in the same league as good BBQ, I’ve found Sonny’s to be a good alternative with good and terrible results at Dave’s.  Corky’s is another that I never understood.

As for a BBQ chain, Dreamland comes to mind as the best.
