It’s been a few years since I’ve been up to Lake Placid but the last time I was there the Great Adirondack Steak & Seafood Co. was better than average (the beer was excellent) and Jimmy’s Lakeside was very good.
Gosh, I got so trashed on St.Pattys day, 1995 in Lake Placid.
I barely remember eating some great fajitas at a (if I remember correctly, wooden front restaurant, with ornate wooden doors, on the east side of town. At least I think it was east, as I was coming from the west, from Old Forge/Eagle Bay area…..
It was past the Ice Skating Arena…. actually right down the street on the left hand side. Funny how I can remember that much.
It just so happened, that it was the time that there was the college hockey playoffs going on, and we could barely find a room for the night. Had a total blast there.. Lots of fun bars with up and down staircases.. seems like most of them, you had to go downstairs to drink.
Never mind me.. Just reminiscing here.
I just found the name of the bar that we loved so much.
Since it is 10 years later, I dont know what it is like now, but it is called Roomers..
Fun place (back then)–pool tables, etc… music.
I did see this link while trying to find where I went.

The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery looks interesting to me.
Glad to see someone else knows of them. They are very nice folks too. You can also upgrade your breakfast with Oscar’s.
Saranac Sourdough has the best homenade bread and sandwiches. When we visit there, we buy a half dozen leaves of bread to freeze. Unfortunately, they don’t last long in the freezer.
I enjoyed Cameron’s in Lake Placid (but they are just open for dinner)
reasonably priced burgers, independantly owned…
the atmosphere is like a Friday’s (TGI Fridays), but the food is much better
HiAndy-Questions???
Potsdam is some what neer LK placid. while not much for dinner, the bagelery has the best bagel for breakfast and lunch. relaxed fresh made.
i have had bagels in 20 states and those are the best.
I vote to go to Saratoga-wonderful little eateries there,of which I cannot remember one name-I ,today, retired from the food business and my colleagues had a party for me-no alcohol, mind you-but plenty of sugar!!!
Lake Placid has one of the few remaining Howard Johnson’s Restaurants around.
I absolutely love Saranac Sourdough for breakfast. Lake Placid Brewing has excellent beers and passable pub fare. Carribean Cowboy is definitely eclectic and very good. Jimmy’s 21, Nicola over Main are both very good. Lake Placid is overall more expensive than other Adirondack places but there is some good food there. Oscars in Warrenburg has great smoked meat and cheese but is not a dining establishment.
by the way great property near lake placid…good luck..
Findout nearby McDonanld…
When traveling to the Adirondacks it is best to pack your own lunch- there’s nothing worth eating up there.
Well, i need to amend that; in Warrensburg there’s a very good smokehouse and around the Saratoga area there’s some good restaurants
Cheers, John
