The Appalachian Bean Kitchen vs The New Orleans Bean Kitchen
The Appalachian Bean Kitchen vs The New Orleans Bean Kitchen
hope y’all enjoy it.
One bowl of each, please. And I’ll probably want seconds. Two pieces of cornbread if I may and some of that French bread, too. But I think you can hold them piccalilli — I’m not too sure about that. And I don’t need any hot sauce in my beans, neither.
My favorite bean dish my mother made was her Navy Bean Soup, made on chilly Saturday mornings most commonly, in the deep well cooker of her Chambers range while she left early to go to the beauty parlor to catch up on all the gossip she’d missed during the week (she had a regular job) and get prettied up so she’d look good in the choir on Sunday.
There were times the first thing I’d do when I rolled out of bed on Saturdays would be to run to the kitchen and lift the lid on the deep well and see what was in there.
But my condiment of choice was ketchup! slathered a-plenty over that bowl.
Dang, now I want some beans.
Good article and congrats on your 5000th.
Love them both ways! Congrats on your milestone!
It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you block out 1-2 hours per day, every day, for a full 10+ years. Thanks for the kind words everybody.
