That amount of butter had to be “for T.V.”.

Otherwise, the whole bun would have been soaked soppy with it and decomposed.[xx(]

Nope. They come floating in a plate of melted butter. [xx(] is right. So many good burgers around here.

I thought ‘butterburgers’ were like what I get at our local Culver’s – flat-top fried in butter.

Such are indeed delicious – especially for a “fast-food” burger.

I stopped there several years ago and they used a huge amount of butter on my burger.  It was soppy but good.

Although I rank Culver’s at the top of the fast food Burger Scale, their use of the term “Butter Burger” is somewhat (thankfully) misleading.  They actually brush a small amount of butter on the bun and then toss it on the griddle to toast it a bit.  For years, before I actually was allowed (by my overprotective wife) to try one, I thought the same as you; a glob of butter melted on the griddle, then a wad of beef smashed into it to get the proper crispy edged effect.  Not the case (again, thankfully), as noted above.

As for Solly’s, I, and many others, can vouch for your and JRPfeff’s assessment of their burgers: greenish sicky-face emoji.  Your description is spot on; “the whole bun…soaked soppy with [butter] and decomposed.”  That’s exactly how they’re served, and their legions of fans will love and defend them unto death.

Which, given a steady diet of Solly’s Butter Burgers, will come sooner rather than later.

I gently suggest diners have their burger on a “pillow” the term they used to use for sliced French bread.
