    What a great report!

Even though I live less than 100 miles away, I never get to Richmond or Petersburg. The work that’s been done to “spiff” them up has been amazing.

90% of the USscareways flights to and from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre are on Dash(Hound)88’s……not nice!  I’m hoping the merger with American gives us some regional jets.

Totally love the smoking pig logo.

Are limeades still popular in Virginia?  Back in 1961 when I spent a month or more in Richmond and Hopewell limeades were popular everywhere as was air conditioning.

Just outside of Smithfield, I found myself at Fort Boykin

Apparently the fort was instrumental  back in  colonial days, during the revolutionary war and even during the War of 1812. The confederates also used the fort during the civil war too

It was now time to return to Richmond. I checked into my hotel, the Double Tree downtown and was getting hungry as it was now time for dinner. Unfortunately, this was also the time of day that I would see a break in the clouds and some sun, although even that was short lived.

I drove to suburban Midlothian to

This place has received accolades and awards all over the interet and I wanted to see if the place stood up to their reputation…

Unfortunately there wasn’t much originality to the interior of the place. You place your order at the counter and then are given a number and then the server arrives with your meal

I’ll fly in those little planes anytime. Commercial jets? Not ever again.

I always worry with those little planes that they’ll break the rubber band when they’re winding the prop.

    [lol]

If I can land it then I’ll fly in it. I can’t land a commercial airliner.

I agree with your review of Q BBQ in Richmond.  It is good … for Virginia.

Given the present national fascination with BBQ and the rich culinary skills and traditions of those living in Southside (which you have so wonderfully depicted above) it’s only a matter of time before Virginia FINALLY develops a ‘signature BBQ style’ of its own.  I can only hope that it doesn’t involve a mustard-based sauce!

    WJ–
I certainly understand why you didn’t get dessert at Sting Ray’s, but for others, the sweet potato pie topped with damson plum preserves is the best I have had.

    That crab imperial looks outstanding!

Sharp provolone is very hard to slice, especially thin…it usually crumbles. Sandwich looks delicious, however!!

Yes it was quite good. I couldn’t discern any difference from the original. The cheese looked and tasted the same as that served at the original location

WJ – The sweet potato look really good and what a great looking crust…but the Crab Imperial over Flounder with Corn Pudding….my favorite!

I will not comment on the no desserts for an entire trip….I will not comment on the no desserts for an entire trip….

I could not pass up the rich and creamy crab imperial served over flounder…

Yeah, I think I’d have that same “problem”.[;)]
