felix —– I don’t remember ever seeing one or hearing anyone mention one before i saw this one in the department store.  I used it only once—to cook the shrimp and loved it.
I know I will use it a lot because I steam all my vegetables.

Thanks for your info.  Glad you like it.

I use mine so often I don’t consider it a gadget any more, but rather an integral part of my kitchen like my knives or saucepans.  Mine sounds a bit different from yours, though…it came with my first microwave 25-ish years ago.  [:D]

I don’t like kitchen gadgets, and never buy them—–but
I love to steam food.  It is the fastest, bestest way to cook.

I was looking around in Beale’s (a Florida Depatment Store) and saw something in the
closeout department because the box was messed up.  It was a MICROWAVE STEAMER.

For $5 I decided to take a chance—

    It is TERRIFIC—-

Just as an example—-I put a cup of water in the bottom bowl and set the steamer tray
on top—–dropped in 9 large shrimp—frozen solid—right from the freezer.  Put the top on
making sure the vent was open.  Put it in the microwave for two (2) minutes and the shrimp
    were pink and cooked.

I could have let the shrimp thaw and then bried them for about 3 minutes.  Lots of time spent
thawing and what a difference in electricity—-2 minutes @ 110V as compared to 1 minute getting
    the pan hot and 3 cooking–4 minutes @ 220V ——–

Gizmo comes with 2 trays so you can cook 2 different things at once for the same big bucks.
Tonight it is chicken breast in one and broccoli in the other.

There is a web site I looked at that gives ideas—–“Microwave Steamer Cooking”.

    Bon Appetit mon amie

My salad chopper. The main things I do with them are chopping large amounts of vegetables and making salads, as well as chicken nachos, stir-fries, and salsa recipes. You will find this is a great gadget, if you have it: https://www.gearhunder.com/best-vegetable-choppers/
