I love the threads that are chock FULL of one-time posters! As above, pages and pages of ’em too…
I’d have to go look for some examples, but I have seen several. [:D]
Especially the ones that go for pages and pages.

Disney World.
When I lived in FL. we would say that every time the family came down they would drag us to the see the mouse. Disney gives you 15% discount if you have a FL liscense.
There used to be a great commercial (I dont remember what the product was) where you’d see snow being thrown from a shovel over the top of a pile. You couldnt see the the person because the pile was too high. Then the voice over would say, "Go ahead. Rub it in. Call home." I loved that one.
Would someone please enlighten this dumb colonist as to what, "The Mouse" is?

Oops. Always happens around January, I do the "math" wrong, thinking they meant this Easter. Reminder to self: it is 2008.

FlipperJack,
We too love The Mouse. If you’ve never been, try The California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Hotel. It was voted one of the BEST restaurants in Florida. And the view is awesome. Time it to be there at fireworks time!! Oh and I live your Country..been there many times..Lake District is paradise. London the greatest capitol on earth(if getting a bit too crowded)
When I’m in Disney, we take the family to Rose and Crown Pup in Epcot, just to talk to the Brit workers and get the feel of being in England.Welcome to our country from an American Anglophile!

I will be travelling up to Orlando by road from Ft L and wondered if there were any good stops for roadfood along the way?
Thks again
Hi, resurrecting your thread because it needs answers on the road part!
Had you checked out the RF restaurant reviews yet?

Many are in/near Ft Lauderdale…
I see there is a place in Stuart, which is on your way.
Good luck getting more answers! [:)]

Flipperjack – I have no specific recommendations, but have had great luck finding hotel deals at www.hotwire.com. The hotels are presented anonymously, but I’ve been able to narrow down the choices before making a reservation.

Bimini bread looks like ordinary white sandwich bread, but its sweet flavor sets it apart, making it an island favorite. Once the bread was exclusively made at home and those who didn’t bake were out of luck, unless they had a friend who did. Today Bimini bread is sold at local markets and served at the island’s top restaurants, establishing the bread as yet another tourist attraction on this pristine island . . . .All Bimini breads are sweet white breads made with yeast, but each has its own flavor and texture. Recipes are closely guarded secrets. Thompson, however, is willing to share the ingredients: flour, yeast, sugar, "so it’ll be nice and sweet," shortening and salt. "If you don’t use salt, it burns quick," she says. No further details are forthcoming. Source: http://travellady.com/Issues/Issue60/bimini.htm
Tark’s is a dive, but friendly and everything is very good. Especially the Key Lime Pie, one of the best I’ve found. [:p] They’ve been there since 1966. No tables, stools at a counter where you can visit with the friendly waitress and fry cooks[:D]

I usually stop in to Primanti Brother’s on the corner of A1A & Sunrise Blvd (a major intersection, across from Ft. Lauderdale Beach). I have copied and pasted from another forum, what I beieve is a fitting description: (by the way, this is a landmark Pittsburgh operation that branched out to Ft. Lauderdale).
I call this place a deli, but yunz could classify it anyway you want – pub, italian, fast food. For those of you who have only heard of Primanti Bros. sandwiches, they are part of Pittsburgh tradition. Imagine a slice of fresh Italian bread with a meat of your choice – most popular = cheesteak, hot sausage, capicola, pastrami – a slice of melted cheese and then french fries and a vinegar-based cole-slaw piled on, all topped with another slice of Italian bread, then sliced in half. I have taken many out of towners there and it seems the ones that have tried their first Primanti Bros sandwich at 2am or later (after several cocktails) seemed to enjoy the experience more so than those who tried a sandwich sober during the middle of the day. This place serves up gut-buster specials, so if you are on a diet, or don’t enjoy a good greasy sandwich every now and then, stay away.
