I’m with Russ. He said it as best I could.
Two Words: WHITE HUT
Paul, You gotta try one of these … It will set a new standard for you.
That said, different burgers benefit from different toppings.
If it is a good onion raw sliced thick not only provides a nice crunch but goes great with mustard. Also putting it on the grill just long enough to leave marks is good. On a cheese burger I think carmelized is the only way to go. I still will eat a good garden or vidallia like an apple……Russ
For a real taste treat, try them both at the same time on burgers or dogs. [:p] pb
I like em both, according to my mood. I prefer the raw, especially Vidalia, on a burger with a slice of tomato, dill pickle, some mustard and ketchup or steak sauce, A1 or Heinz 57.
Grilled onions are great on a burger with some sauted mushroom and maybe even green pepper or jalapeno. No other condiments on that one; just the tender vegetables.
I think it is a matter of taste. I personally prefer raw onions with my burger. It is all a matter of taste.

Looks like you have stumped a lot of people on this. I see no replies yet [:)]
Why is it that a great burger seems much better with fried onions vs. raw, where as a great dog demands raw onions vs fried?
