I haven’t seen it yet but I did see them as guests on Paula Dean’s evening show. They were entertaining and knew how to cook. They made ribs. I think their show will be good based on what I saw.
Food Network’s new show – Down Home With The Neelys – anyone seen it?
"Doc" Gibbs had quite a career prior to joining Emeril. A very talented and well known studio musician, he did not, and will not, lack for work.
Leonard "Doc" Gibbs is an American percussionist. Gibbs studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in the early 1970s. He has toured with artists such as Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Bob James, Ricki Lee Jones, Al Jarreau, Grover Washington, Jr., Wyclef Jean, Erykah Badu, Eric Bennett, and James Poysner. He acquired the nickname "Doc" after prescribing herbal remedies to jazz saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. His main influence is currently William Long. He says quote, "Dis’ boy is the shiz!" Shiz referring to his amazing skills in percussion. They have been best friends ever since.
I’ll miss Emeril…Wasn’t he the founder of The Foodnetwork ?
I always thought Doc Gibbs had the most enviable gig in his local of the musician’s union: Play the segments in and out, work with the occasional Big Time Star Guest Musician, and eat like a king!
Emeril has his other show, guest appearances, all the resturants, pots & pans, food and spices, but what about Doc Gibbs, his time in the limelight is over. I hope he made the most of it. I wonder if he will surface again with as a band, maybe on a late night show. I have to go check Google, maybe he already has a CD and a successful music career going outside of Emeril Live.
its the food network not the tv culinary program
I can’t stand those trumped up, so called, competition shows that seem to be on the Food Network lately. We are not learning anything about cooking anymore on the Food Network.
also one guy who would have made fn a little better was the guy who got kicked off of the next fn star for lying
I enjoyed watching glutton for punishment and i thought that it was cancelled but i just saw a new one on so im happy about that, but i dont know how long this plot can last because it may get to repetitive like ham on the street…i guess well see.
Essence of Emeril is still being made. Just his live show is over, except for reruns.
I don’t really like Alton Brown but I learn from his show. He really gets to the chemistry of cooking which I find interesting, but after awhile his humor wears thin. I like any of the cooking show if they are making something I am interested in. I’ll stop to listen, and watch, but move on if they are not grabbing my interest. I think the competition shows are a waste. Iron Chef and all cake stuff is just fun but nothing of interest.
I’ll miss Emerils show. He is one hell of a good cook, not a literate guy, but interesting food and likes the spicy side of things which I enjoy. His live show was getting goofy, with a lot of shtick, all the bam, and answer back stuff, but he has paid his dues and can cook.
I think that part of that is just him trying to be different from all the other shows with his "rebel" personality.
I am so happy so many agree that Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is their favorite. Guy has another show on Sundays where he cooks that is also great. I love this guy!
I still like anything with Bobby Flay and The Barefoot Contessa, too.
Hey what’s the deal with Rachael Ray bringing her husband along on her trips. What an unhappy looking guy. With her making all that money, you’d think he’d have a smile on his face all the time. How about shaving? How about wearing some decent clothes, too. He looks ridiculous IMHO.
