Here’s a couple:
Robb Walsh – Are You Really Going To Eat That? Confessions of a Culinary Thrill Seeker
Ruth Reichl > Comfort Me With Appples and Garlic and Sapphires
Anthony Bourdain – A Cook’s Tour
Julia Child’s biography, fascinating reading:
Noel Riley Fitch – An Appetite for Life
I also love Calvin Trillin’s books. I’m reading ‘Feeding a Yen’ at the moment and it’s great reading, and makes me very, very, hungry!

Can anyone recommend good books related to traveling the country and eating in restaurants? Something with a compilation of essays or something like that? If I can’t do it, I’d at least like to read about it. We’re still talking about food in case you’re wondering. Any help would be much appreciated.
Calvin Trillin may be dated by now, but still an excellent, stimulating, fun read. Naugahyde still has a Website (a reference to one of his books).
Two books that I read over and over again are "The Artful Eater" by Edward Behr, and "The Man Who Ate Everything" by Jeffery Steingarten (he has other works; he’s the third, smartalec judge on ‘Ironchef America’").
Among my favrite books in this genre are those by Calvin Trillin:
1) "Feeding a Yen: Savoring Local Specialties from Kansas City to Cuzco";
2) "Travels with Alice" (Alice is his wife);
3) "The Tummy Trilogy" ("American Fried", "Third Helpings" and "Alice, Let’s Eat")
4) "Food Lover’s Guide to the Best Ethnic Eating in New York City" (co-authored with Robert Seitsema)

Right now I am reading Southern Belly and the subtitle is "the ultimate food lover’s companion to the South" It covers 10 states, gives a lot of interesting facts and some good restaurant suggestions.
