Mr. Chips, Trudy and Sam sure know how to dine you when in Portland! Sam only had ONE jackfruit smoothie?? Is he on a diet or just getting in shape for the upcoming baseball season? I had two fabulous meals with these wonderful folks. Now I just have to persuade the Chips family to come to Alaska. No? How about Fenway Park!

Thank you Mr Chips. Connie and I had a wonderful time, and hope to do it again. Your hospitality was above and beyond. It was an honor to dine with you, Trudy, and Sam. Portland is a great city, and you were the perfect host.

    A Million Thanks,

    Jack

OK….come clean. What did you and Mr. and Mrs. Flyseye eat? I know how many of those rolls ol’ Sam can put away! [:D]

This past Sunday, the Chips family had the great plesure of meeting roadfooder Flyseye and his wife in Portland, Oregon. We met for lunch at portland’s best Vietnamese restaurant Pho Vanh. Jack had the duck pho with massive amounts of duck and vegetables, Sam had the beef slad and a jackfruit smoothie,I had Vietnamese sausage ( I had to create the wrapping myself) and we went through 4 orders of spring rolls. A delightful time was had by all.
We followed lunch with a visit to new favorite place, the Tortilleria y Market de Leon in East Portland. It is a Mexican grocery that makes fresh pork and cheese tamales every day, chile rellenos, fried chicken and a bakery with Mexican pastries and doughnuts. There are a wide variety of Mexican candies and soda. Flyseye sampled one fresh tamale and took the rest home to Port Angeles.
Regrettably Jack’s back acted up and we had to cut short our visit. We look forward to seeing Mr and Mrs Flyseye again and truly enjoyed their company.
