So far I’ve tried Usinger’s all beef, Five Star pork and beef (BTW- Wal-Mart has the Five Star all beef in 2 lb packages for a little over $12.00), and wieners made locally in Winesburg, OH, by Winesburg Meats, Inc. I’ve tried all their varieties: pork and beef, garlic, cheese, and jalapeno and cheese. The Five Star are made by Storer meats, which is in Cleveland, not Winesburg. My favorite, so far, is the Five Star wieners.

Well, sampled the Five Star dogs a couple weeks ago. Not bad at all… They claim to be spicy, but I couldn’t taste anything really spicy. But they did make you sweat! Not sure what that was about, but the spice is subdued by the hot dog itself, yet it must be there… Hopefully more folk around here buy them up so maybe the price will go down. At 4.99/lb, I think I’d rather purchase either Koegles or Nathans for around $3.25/lb.

Has anyone heard of, or tasted Five Star Hot Dogs? It’s not an outlet, but a brand of dog. They showed up on my stores shelf this past week, and are calling for a premium price ($4.99 lb 8/1), same as the Dietz and Watsons. I did a search here and found nothing. They advertise Low Sodium on their package.
