Doors, Dio (all bands he played in) and Pink Floyd.
My current faves are James McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards, and Robert Earl Keen and whoever is backing him. I’m not sure they qualify as "rock"; I’m not sure that there is such a thing any more.
When you listen to something old, do you like it because of what it is, or because of what it reminds you of? I find that I feel that way about a lot of the music that I was very passionate about in the ’70s; it is still good, but what made it special was that it spoke to me in a certain way and I don’t feel that way any more. On the other hand, there is still a lot of music that is timeless. I could still listen to the best mid and late period Beatles and get chills, it is so evocative (In My Life, Eleanor Rigby, She Said She Said, I’m Only Sleeping, side 2 of Abbey Road). Or Let it Bleed, or Exile on Main St. The really best of the best is actually very small.
Have you heard The Doors.. An American Prayer?
The ultimate Jim Morrison as far as I am concerned.
This should be in any avid Doors fan collection!
It is so hard to pick just one for me. It would be either Pink Floyd, The Beatles or Tom Petty.
I just heard The Doors’ 20th Century Fox while driving around this morning. A great song I haven’t heard for years!
My music tastes tend to span the ages…
50’s- Fats Domino-Elvis-Everly Brothers- Buddy Holly
60’s- Beatles, more Elvis,
then the newer stuff- Van Halin, AC-DC, 3 Dog Nite, Black Sabbath, KC& the Sunshine Band,AND The Blues Brothers!!!
I quit paying attention to most ‘pop’ music in 1990.
I am a child of the 60’s, so anything RNR appeals to me.
But lately I have been into the heavy alternative type of rock.
I do love the Doors….. very much…….
But I cannot actually say I have a fav…….
I mean.. there are so many out there, and have grown up when RNR was just becoming….. Shoot….. I saw the Who in 1969, The Doors at the infamous concert in Miami/Coconut Grove.. Emerson Lake and Palmer…..Yes…..oh so many I cant even tell you…
Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd..And only paid no more than 12 bucks a ticket to see them in their ORIGINAL heyday.
I loved growing up when I did!

Oh yes Beatle me please! I listen to most everything but the boy’s from Liverpool are #1[8D]!
Kinda like good BBQ, I have many favorites. But the two that stand above the rest will always be;
Van Halen (old VH with DLR)
I’m a huge Beatles freak. Along with the Beatles, my favorite bands are Kansas, Yes, Zeppelin, Moody Blues, and the Who.
Sure , I like the Doors , too……and I still get excited when a song like Back Door Man comes on the radio while I am jogging!
I believe there is a group out there now that actually is allowed to perform under the name "the Doors".. is’nt that amazing?!?
The big news in AC (my area) was last weekend when the Rolling Stones CANCELLED there concert. (Mick Jagger sore throat; "doctors orders")
A lot of disappointed people, espescially since they paid jacked up prices to stay at the casino hotels… ($500 for Saturday night was typical for the Borgata)
I may go to the Meatloaf concert next Friday, Nov. 10th, at the Taj Mahal Casino.
Love the classic rock from the 70’s, like Bad Company, (taking care of business!), BTO, etc..
A lot of us Roadfood people will probably share your love for rock bands. Welcome to Roadfood!
