Love bagel sandwiches. Almosts every place in CNY offered up bagel sandwiches as a way to sell more after the breakfast crowd was gone. I love hummous, havarti, and roasted red peppers on a bagel! Or a good turkey and swiss with horseradish mustard. My favorite though is honey walnut raisin cream cheese on an everything bagel. The mixture of the savory and sweet flavors is something I can’t get enough of.

I did have one bagel sandwich in my lifetime. When I was in high school, there was a chain store named Bagel Nosh on Chestnut Street in Philly that had all types of bagels and sandwiches. In those days, it was a real gentile novelty.

My friend talked me into having a ham and swiss on a bagel and I remember being surprised at how weird it was compared to the bagels we’d have at one of my Jewish neighbor’s house – just cut in half and spread with cream cheese.

A real bagel is boiled before being baked. IMHO the best real bagels are in the NYC area and vicinity. Some say it’s "the water". I’m not sure, I just know that they taste better.

When I was pregnant with my third child at least two or three mornings a week I enjoyed scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel. Now, when I want to treat myself, it’s Taylor Ham and cheese on any kind of bagel!
