Love bagel sandwiches. Almosts every place in CNY offered up bagel sandwiches as a way to sell more after the breakfast crowd was gone. I love hummous, havarti, and roasted red peppers on a bagel! Or a good turkey and swiss with horseradish mustard. My favorite though is honey walnut raisin cream cheese on an everything bagel. The mixture of the savory and sweet flavors is something I can’t get enough of.
Onion Bagel, boursin garlic cheese, genoa salami, red onion, and nice ripe slice of tomato!……Chow heaven!
Nothing like a good NY bagel with some great lox, whipped cream cheese and a fresh tomato slice… and you can’t get good bagels in KY.. I have to order H & H… around here.. the so called bagels taste like donuts with arthirtis
Toasted green chile bagel with turkey and melted swiss cheese.
Onion bagel with smoked turkey and melted cheddar cheese….. MMMMMMMMmmmm
I prefer smoked whitefish instead of lox eh
Tuna fish salad is great on a bagel
Also open faced grill cheese on a bagel
And really good: Open face tuna fish salad covered with cheese on a bagel, then grilled!!!
yum

Now this would be out of place![:)]-pb
Lox, cream cheese, and green onion
I did have one bagel sandwich in my lifetime. When I was in high school, there was a chain store named Bagel Nosh on Chestnut Street in Philly that had all types of bagels and sandwiches. In those days, it was a real gentile novelty.
My friend talked me into having a ham and swiss on a bagel and I remember being surprised at how weird it was compared to the bagels we’d have at one of my Jewish neighbor’s house – just cut in half and spread with cream cheese.

What’s the difference between a "real bagel" and a "chain bagel"?
A real bagel is boiled before being baked. IMHO the best real bagels are in the NYC area and vicinity. Some say it’s "the water". I’m not sure, I just know that they taste better.
When I was pregnant with my third child at least two or three mornings a week I enjoyed scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel. Now, when I want to treat myself, it’s Taylor Ham and cheese on any kind of bagel!

Now there’s a word I haven’t heard spoken in a very long time. [:D]
