You know, you could also go to Rome and Carthage and never leave the State. While you are at it you could take sidetrips to Dime Box, Muleshoe, and a number of other great municipalities.

Elise, thank you for a great vicarious visit to N.O. Sounds like a very productive trip.

Elise, thanks for the great write-up! I have taken Felix’s off the list for our upcoming NOLA trip in two weeks and have put Anderson’s at the top. I don’t want to get scratched [;)]. Now where is the honeymoon…….are you still thinking Paris??I think that was a pipedream. We might set aside money to go to Paris in the Fall, but we realized a destination wedding plus a honeymoon in a different location was just craziness. And now our friends are getting married 2 weeks after us in Charlotte, NC. So we will be doing a bit of traveling that month. Maybe we’ll just go to Avery Island and check out the Tabasco plant (I’m such a romantic, sigh…).
When you go to Mike Anderson’s on Bourbon, try the catfish fingers appetizer. If you go to the one in the Riverwalk mall, the red beans and rice are "hey lardy mama" good! And the foodstall next to it in the foodcourt has excellent little meat pies.
If you go to Paris, Tx you can still say "We’ll always have Paris".[:D]
We have a Paris out here in California too. Just east of Los Angeles. There is always Paris Casino in Las Vegas as well. Good Luck Elsie….I Guess?
Sorry about the pipedream Elise….c’est la vie. You’ll make it there sometime. Try to think romantic thoughts about Tabasco and how consuming large quantities will get the two of you all "hot and bothered" [;)]. Thanks for the tip on the catfish fingers, we love them and will certainly give ’em a try!

Excellent post, I agree on the Felix review, by far and away the worst place in NO, both in food and service. Give me Acme anyday.
Thanks for the great report. Sounds like a great city to go to and fill up. [:D][:D]

Also sorry you didn’t get to meet Mr. Mayhaw. [:(]
Mr Mayhaw fully intended on going over and meeting Elise on Saturday afternoon, but both of the little Mayhaw’s soccer teams won their first tournament games (believe me, this in itself is a miracle given the records of both of their teams[xx(]) and had to stay on the Northshore to transport soccer players to different venues.
I was very dissappointed, as I wanted to meet Elise and her family and I also wanted to go to Rock n Bowl and see Sonny Landreth and the Goners on Saturday p.m for the 15th anniversary of the Bowling Alley ( a really great roadfood nightspot, that not only has great food, but live music nightly and bowling at the same time in an old upstairs bowling alley built in the forties).
I was very pleased to speak to her on Sunday a.m. however and hear that a suggestion or two that I had made were of some use.
Incidentally, when I asked her what her favorite food was while she was in town, she said "Red Beans and Rice at Mike Anderson’s". Folks, just to let everybody in on the secret……guess what makes these beans so good? Lard. Another fabulous pork product. Great for pie crusts, beans, and greasing the axles on wagons (just in case you are having trouble with your covered wagon).
Hopefully I will see her next time. Either way I enjoyed meeting her by telephone and putting a voice to the screen[:D]

Glad eveything worked out so well for you in the end—but very sad to here of Felix’s—when i lived there in 72 it was a favorite of mine and the folks where great-sorry to hear of its attitudinal slide.
Thanks for the writeup Elise! [:p]
Too bad about Felix’s. I believe I remember you posting about how much you loved the crab sandwiches. Tell you what; next time I’m in NO, I’ll go kick her @$# for you.
Also sorry you didn’t get to meet Mr. Mayhaw. [:(]
