Wayne’s Drive-In is on the northwest edge of Cedarburg WI. On summer weekends, they have rollerskating carhops. Very good sirloin burgers, onion rings, and ice cream!
There isn’t much on the east end in Robbinsville. The Phillips Restaurant has a pretty good hamburger, and breakfast buffet. Your best bet is to head over to Bryson City.

I like the C&W Drive-in on the north side of Etowah, Tenn. (on the west end of the Cherohala Skyway) – what with the gator decor and the shrimp po-boy on the menu, I’m guessing the proprietor is a transplanted Cajun.Looks like a 4 hour roadtrip to me! Will give it a try.
Hope I’m not overselling it; nice enough place, but for a 4-hour roadtrip, you’ll do well to check out other stuff too, like Fort Mountain near Chatsworth, GA, and the Cherohala Skyway – can someone point out some good food on the east end of this road? I struck out myself.

Parkette in Lexington, KY has been around since the early 1950’s. If you’re ever in Lexington it’s a "must stop". Try the "Poor Boy" box! [:)]

Howard’s on Rt9 in W. Brookfield, MA. I have posted a 3rd paty link in the past, but it no longer works.
Ate there a few times. Good stop for Ice Cream or a quick, freshly made sandwich or hamburger.
I feel the need again to plug Wall’s Drive-In at Cannelton, Indiana – this site hipped me to it, and it is a thing of beauty.
Neat Roadrash! Eat a pig sandwitch or two for me.

We have two excellent seasonal drive-ins in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, MN that still have ordering from your car and carhops delivering trays. They are the Peppermint Twist in Delano (featured on Roadfood.com reviews) and the Minnetonka Drive-in in Spring Park near Lake Minnetonka. Since they both serve breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches they are featured with menus on my http://www.porktenderloinsandwich.com web site.
This weekend there is the "Back to the 50s" classic car show at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. There usually are over 10,000 cars on display. A lot of those people will take breaks and cruise around. I suspect the Minnetonka Drive-in will be filled with old classic cars and will be a great photo op.
Nice to see that there are still a few great Drive-ins out there. Since I travel around quite a bit it’s nice to know that I have options. Although it is not required to have car hop service to have a great Drive-in, it helps the atmosphere. Case in point, Fat Tom’s in Colorado Springs. You walk up to the window to order then pick it up at the next window. You can watch them cook the food if you want through the all glass walls. A few covered picnic tables, and a GREAT!! view of Pikes Peak. Really doesn’t get much better than that. Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. I’m looking for more places to try.

Roadrash, I was just talking to someone about how I missed the Pig Stands in Dallas. Nice to know there are still some around somewere. The dallashistory.org forum is a neat place for anyone interested in the area.Ok, in Dallas Keller’s is a great drive-in place w/ great old time greasy burgers. The #5 w/ chili is my fav. Saturday is "show your old car off day".

Papa, I’m actually heading back that way this weekend. I plan to shoot some pictures of both Beaumont Pig Stands and post them when I get back.

Please give more specific directions. I have visited Etowah may times and the entrance to Cherohala is not so good from there.

The C&W is on 411 just a bit north of the Cherohala entrance (Hwy 310) – it’s on the west side of the highway, with a zigzag car canopy with ordering intercoms. I’ve tended to eat inside, having been in the car hours at that point. Once I saw an old gent there playing some nice bluegrass fiddle, as well as a swingin’ "Blues in the Night" – not often you can find a place like that with entertainment.

JB’s Drive-in Greeley, CO – Great food and the best home made root beer I have ever tasted.
Sycamore Drive-in – Bethel, CT – Yummy burgers and very good home made root beer.
L-Kens, on Central Ave in Albany
Country Drive-In, Vischer Ferry Road, Clifton Park
both fine road side establishments.
