Davy: Thanks for clearing that up. I had black eyed peas made from scratch with hog jowl, rutabaga greens, Tennessee cornbread and fried country Tennessee ham.
I also added onions, jalapenos, garlic along with the hog jowl to my black eyed peas.
In all fairness, I had that on New Years eve. New Years day I had two day old fried chicken, two day old salad and fresh libation.
Football was great. I am glad the VOLS won.

Stephen,
For shame! — You left out the best part… black-eyed peas with hog jowls! — Especially when served with skillet corn bread!!
Wanting Me Some About Now, Ort. Carlton in Deprived, Depraved Athens, Georgia.
Collards, black-eyed peas and pork.
Always. Always. Black eyed peas (for luck) and cabbage or greens (for money). I’d be almost afraid to start the new year off without those two.
we have LOTS of appetizers and other munchies for New Years eve then tomorrow will have leftovers and work on emptying out the fridge!
Herring for us, something carried from my parents over 50 years ago.
When my dad was still alive, we used to do the pork and sauerkraut every year, so I voted for that. Now, it is usually eating wings and pizza in front of the tv watching college football. Definitely, one of my favorite days of the year!
