Lone Star, I wanted to let you know I made a loaf of Dilly Bread this past weekend. It was delicious!! [:p][:p]
Everyone should try this. It’s easy to do, too. (Hey, if I can do it…)
Thanks again. [:)]
Yes! After I run a few errands, I am going to drink bloody marys all afternoon, smoke cigarettes, put my feet all over the furniture, order Chinese and eat it out of the carton and watch really trashy tv.
Thank you very much, Lone Star!! Sounds wonderful. [:)]
I may go ahead and make some this weekend! [:p]
As promised for Bushie:
This recipe is for one loaf – I always double it
Mix: 1 package of yeast with 1/4 cup of warm water in a small bowl.
Heat: 1 cup of cottage cheese and 1 Tbsp. butter over low heat just til butter melts.
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. Instant dry onion
1 tsp. Dill seed
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
Pour this into a large mixing bowel and add yeast mixture. Beat into this 21/2 cups of flour to make a stiff dough. Let rise until double. After dough has risen, pat into bread pan or shape into rolls. (be careful at this stage – the dough is delicious!) Let rise again then bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes for a loaf, shorter for rolls.
Brush finished rolls with butter and sprinkle lightly with salt.
My family has been making this bread for special occasions for over 25 years, it is soooo good! Your whole house will smell simply wonderful!
