Here’s a lost curiosity. Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica – or at least the corporation what owned ’em – had a restaurant chain with locations in Joliet, Illinois and in Merrillville, Indiana. And, like Dagwood’s Sandwich Shoppe from 2008-2010, it crashed and burned. There are some details, and excerpts from a comic book that advertised the venture, at today’s installment of Stupid Comics:

Does anybody have any memories, photos, or other ephemera from this chain? Where were the other stores located?
Mrs. Chicken and I have some friends in the Joliet area so I emailed them about Archie’s. Their recollection is that it opened in the mid to late ’70s, only lasted maybe a couple of years at most, became an Italian restaurant called D’Amico’s, and was eventually replaced by an Amoco/BP station 20-some years ago.
