    Thanks for the welcome!

You’re absolutely right about route numbers – an important detail! Here we go:

Leave Dallas to Amarillo on 287, continuing onto US40 to Albuquerque.

North on 85 (might go to Santa Fe if recommended), up 550 to Aztec, then north on the 170 and 140 through the southeastern part of Colorado.

491 into Utah at Monticello, head north on 191/6 until around Provo, UT, continuing to Salt Lake City on the 15/84

Then continuing on the 84 all the way from the Utah/Idaho border to Boise.

Welcome to Roadfood, Ahosek. As a “Half-Czech” we hope you’ll enjoy some of the connections to your heritage that many folks enjoy especially in the Chicago and Mid-western area of the country.

You don’t give much detail as to your route of travel to help us offer suggestions along a particular road. If you narrow those choices a bit I think you will get some good feedback!

    Hi everyone

This site is really an amazing thing. I’ve been living in Europe for nearly 20 years and am coming back to the US this summer with a road trip in mind. I’ll be driving from Dallas to Boise. I’m trying to keep to some ground rules – the main one is that I not eat anything that isn’t special in some way (either unique to the area, or just interesting in some kind of cultural way). That means swearing off “easy” fast food options for the whole trip.

My research so far shows that New Mexico is green chili cheeseburger territory, and of course Texas is brisket-land. No real idea about Utah, though. Aside from that starting-point info, I am just looking up individual restaurants. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears!
