Not a big fan of the Crumbs. I have to second what Pigiron was saying. Sickly sweet and comes across as overkill. I like a nice cake/frosting ratio.

This Crumbs stuff in new to me, even tho I live in Manhattan, I never heard of it.

Perhaps we are deluged with too many Kupcake Kanteens here (good name, huh?) Like the LINES at Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes. I have been there at times their are no lines, and I am not impressed by the food that much. Maybe it tastes better when you stand in outside the cold for half anf hour? I think that there are certain places (Shake Shack, Magnolia, maybe Crumbs) that are more about see-be-seen-tell-everyone where the food per se, and the "hip" clientele are more into the name than the product.

Celebrity Food? (or crummy food, so to speak….)

More is less sometimes, just as less is more. I just don’t like all that sugary goop, it’s not to my taste. I need a little subtlety in my food.

There is also a Crumbs in Beverly Hills, which I tried on our last trip out west. Sadly, we got there close to closing time so they didn’t have all of the flavors available (would have liked to try the day’s special of pecan pie!). I got the Reese’s PB cupcake and it was definitely good–but the rich butter cream frosting far outdid the chocolate cake which was just so-so. IMO, the cupcakes are worth a try, but at $4-5 a pop, I wouldn’t go back to sample the entire catalog!

I happen to listen to Howard Stern in the AM. I hear them talking about this bakery all the time and the cupcakes that they make. I went on the web site and those look like some good cupcakes…wondering if anybody had had the pleasure.
